Merit Badge College 2007
Update 2-18-07 The Computer Merit Badge Afternoon session is now re-open! We have rounded up another Instructor for the afternoon session. So everyone who wants a Computer Merit Badge, should be able to receive one. Update 2-16-07
Due to the Council not being able
to answer some questions about our Merit Badge College, Please direct your calls
and questions to the Event Chairman, Phillip Williamson II.

e-mail him (e-mails will be answered soonest as I am never
without my computer). Update 2-9-07 The Computer Merit Badge AFTERNOON Session has been Cancelled due to the professors work obligations. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The Event Chairman would also like to remind everyone that they can sign up for TWO Merit Badges, as some people are only signing up for one. You may have all you need for Eagle, but there are Palms to consider! Please sign up for two classes! Update 2-4-07 New, Updated versions of the documents by the District Commissioner, Executive, and Chairman are now available. The new pre-reqs eliminate almost every "Explain" or "Tell" pre-requirement, meaning you have less work to do beforehand. The Event Chairman requests that, while scouts are not required to, please write up the "Explain" or "Tell" requirements before class, as this will help the classes go along faster. REGISTRATION PACKET Update 1-30-07
You may begin registering as soon as you
want. Scouts have their choice of 2 of 17 different Merit Badges that are taught
by College Professors and members of the local community. Scouter activities
include, Adult Indoor Training in the Morning, and AED & CPR Training in the
afternoon. If enough adults do not wish to participate in the Events, I will
teach an Adult Computer class, the focus of which will be your families safety
on the computer, but any questions or problems are welcome. If you have

Center at 1-800-272-6880 Chief Cornstalk District Merit Badge College Documents are officially ready. The following are Microsoft Word (.doc) and spreadsheet (.xlr, Excel or Works) Documents. If you do not have one of these programs, the documents will be up in other formats at a later date. Or you can download Open Office for free. To download these documents, Right click and click "Save As" or "Save Link As..."
REGISTRATION PACKET You must bring your Space Exploration Permission Slip if you wish to launch Rockets! UPDATE 1-21-07 Added to the list of definite merit badges will be Citizenship in the world. In the Morning. The other citizenships are not offered as the two MBC's before us take care of Community and Nation. This merit badge is also on the pre-reqs for last year. Still in the works are...

Registration will
open February 1st due to room arranging. Badges for this year that are definite
so far are...
For pre-req's, please refer to the
pre-req (Spreadsheet-.xlr- format) sheet from last
year. Pre-reqs for the new badges will be up as soon as possible. Cost for the
Merit badge college will be $10 for Registration, and 15 for Late Registration.
Please remember that Courteous and Kind are two parts of the Scout Law that
apply even to registration for events. If to many people register the day of the
event, as is most of the times the case, then food distribution and event
availability can be greatly disrupted, and the event will not be thoroughly
enjoyed by all. It is neither Courteous nor Kind to show up the day of the event
and ask for a spot, when one had plenty of time to register beforehand.
Once again Southern WV Community and Technical College will be hosting and supporting the Chief Cornstalk District Merit Badge College. The Chief Cornstalk District would like to thank them for their continued support. We plan to offer a greater variety of merit badges than last year some additions include, Photography, Dentistry, and Nuclear Science. Also, ALL scouts will be made aware of the time registration is made open, including those from other councils, so get your Pre-registration in as soon as it opens!!! |
